The Chief Election Commissioner has issued the schedule for revision of electoral rolls for forthcoming Local Government elections, which were previously prepared in 2000-01.
These electoral rolls require updating, as a large number of persons have become eligible for enrolment since then.
The existing electoral rolls prepared on separate electorate basis for Local Government Elections will be displayed in the offices of Registration Officers, Assistant Registration Officers and at some conspicuous place in each electoral area on August 09, 2004 inviting claims, objections and application for corrections. Such claims and objections can be filed up to August 31, 2004.
The Registration Officers will dispose of all claims, objections filed with them by September 21, 2004.
Those aggrieved with the decisions of the Registration Officers can file representations with the Revising Authorities appointed by the Chief Election Commissioner up to October 6, 2004.
Names of Revising Authorities, Registration Officers and Assistant Registration Officers have already been notified in the official Gazette.
Any citizen of Pakistan, who has become 18 years of age on or before January 1, 2004 can file his claim for inclusion of his name in the electoral rolls of the relevant electoral area on the prescribed form.
The forms can be collected free of cost from the officers of Provincial election Commissioners, Deputy Election Commissioners, Assistant Election Commissioners, Registration Officers and Assistant Registration Officers in the respective districts.
