A four-member FPCCI trade delegation to Nairobi, Kenya, led by Tariq Sayeed, held meeting with the chairman and members of Kenya-Pakistan Business Council (KPBC) of Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a statement said here on Friday.Tariq, who is chairman of Pakistan-Kenya Business Council (PKBC) of FPCCI, discussed various proposals and suggestions with Kenyan counterpart.
Both sides mainly focused their discussions on matters of 'Preferential Trade Agreement' between the two countries, establishment of Pakistan Display Centre in Kenya, exploration of new areas of co-operation and joint ventures, holding of Pakistan single-country exhibition in Nairobi and opening of Kenyan bank in Pakistan.
Both business councils reviewed the existing bilateral trade relations and expressed concern that the bilateral trade is confined to a limited number of items and no efforts have been made for the expansion and enlargement of import and exportable items.
The business councils reaffirmed intent for promotion of bilateral trade and economic relations by exploiting all available resources.
Pakistan trade delegation was informed about the newly developed 'Export Processing Zone' in Nairobi.
While discussing joint ventures possibilities it was reviewed that there is lot of potential in textile, pharmaceutical, electrical transformer, food processing, leather products, agro industry, communications and transportation.
The business councils also made recommendations for grant of multiple visa to the business communities of both countries on the recommendation of FPCCI ad KNCCI.
It was also decided that the next Pakistan-Kenya Joint Business Council meeting would be held in Karachi towards the end of this year.
