Director General Agriculture Extension Muhammad Akram on Sunday inaugurated the first mini seed processing plant with a capacity to process 22 tons seed per day at 'Foundation Seed Cell'.
The DG said that Sindh Agriculture Extension had established Foundation Seed Cell following failure of Sindh Seed Corporation to improve the availability of quality seeds in the province.
He said that earlier the 'Foundation' was providing pre-basis seeds to seed companies so that they can develop basic seeds but with the establishment of mini seed processing plants the capacity of Foundation to provide pre-basic and basic seeds would improve.
He said that similar mini plants would be established in other parts of the province to achieve self-sufficiency in good quality seeds essential for the development of crop production.
