Finance Minister and Prime Minister-designate Shaukat Aziz here on Wednesday said that serving Islam and Pakistan is the mission of his life.
He stated this while addressing Ulema and Mashaikh from constituency NA-59 (Attock) from where he is contesting by-election.
Brigadier Muhammad Bashir (Retd), Maulana Abdul Sabour, Maulana Nisar Mustafa of Hassanabdal, Hafiz Muhammad Dawood Chishti of Sanjawal, Pir Syed Riaz ul Hassan of Langhar Sharif and Maulana Abdul Qadir Imam of main mosque Fatehjang also spoke on the occasion. Omar Ayub Khan MNA and Senator Muhammad Ali Durrani were also present on the occasion.
Shaukat Aziz reiterated his resolve to serve Islam and Pakistan. He called for forging unity among Muslim ummah to meet challenges being faced by them.
Shaukat Aziz appealed Ulema to propagate the real message of Islam as a religion of peace, brotherhood and love in their respective sermons and thwart the evil designs of the enemies of Islam and Pakistan.
"Islam is our religion and is a complete code of life and Ulema should propagate the universal values of Islam for its supremacy in the world", he remarked.
Shaukat Aziz said that unemployment and price hike are some of the major challenges for the government and added that it would tackle these issues on priority basis for the welfare of the people especially the poor.
He said the government is focusing on the construction sector, as it is labour intensive and also on the agriculture sector for the welfare of the people.
"We can achieve the development goals and make Pakistan a strong and a prosperous country by putting efforts all together as a nation", Shaukat Aziz said.
He said the prudent economic reforms initiated during past five years under the leadership of President General Pervez Musharraf has helped the country back on the right track and put it on the path of economic growth and development.
He assured the people of the constituency that after his election, he would utilise his maximum efforts for the development of the constituency and resolving the problems of the people.
The Ulema strongly condemned attempt on Shaukat's life in Fathejang in which many innocent people were killed and injured.
Islam, they said, is a religion of peace and does not allow the killing of the innocent people.
They added that those involved in the act of terrorism have no faith or religion and were the enemies of Islam and Pakistan.
The Ulema lauded the efforts of Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz for cause of Pakistan and stabilising the economy.
They assured their complete support to finance minister in the forthcoming by-election from Attock on August 18.
