The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore, is focusing on research and practical application of knowledge in the field of animal sciences for the uplift of farmers as a result of government's policies.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Manzoor Ahmad stated this while addressing a certificate distribution ceremony for the final batch of veterinary assistants from NWFP, who completed a 40-day training course on pregnancy diagnosis and artificial insemination here on Thursday.
The course was jointly organised by the Institute of Continuing Education and Extension and the Department of Theriogenology of the UVAS on demand of Barani Area Development Project of the Livestock and Dairy Development, NWFP. The VC said that it was a matter of pleasure that the university had imparted training to veterinary officials from the NWFP.
The university was developing its infrastructure to provide all possible education and research facilities to its teachers and students.
He said state-of-the-art laboratories were being set up for research and diagnostic facilities, and more hostels were being constructed to accommodate more outstation students. Chairman of Theriogenology Department, Professor Dr Nasim Ahmed said that 57 veterinary officers and assistants from NWFP had been given training on pregnancy diagnosis and artificial insemination in three batches.
Meanwhile, the VC distributed certificates among the training participants and asked to apply their knowledge in the field so that farmers' community could be benefited.
