The National Fertiliser Corporation (NFC) has produced 1,315,887 tons of various varieties of fertiliser during the last fiscal as compared to 1,176,036 tons produced during the same period previous year, showing an increase of 11 percent.
The NFC sold 1,352,250 tons of urea, CAN, NP, SSP and Zinc Sulphate fertiliser during the year 2003-04 as compared to sales of 1,343,396 tons for the same period last year which is 0.7 percent higher. However, against the budgeted target of 1,24,650 tons of fertiliser, the actual sales remained eight percent higher.
Official sources said that the NFC achieved the sales targets successfully and there were nil stocks of urea, CAN, NP, SSP fertilisers at the end of financial year 2003-04. Last year stocks of NFC products at the end of June 2003 were 37,185 tons. This feat has been achieved for the firs time in the history of NFC since 1976.
They added that the NFC earned pretax profit of Rs 1,930,975 million for the year 2003-04 against the budgeted pretax profit of Rs 467.627 million, which is 312.90 percent higher. As compared to the last year's pretax profit of Rs 521.684 million the same for the period under review was 270.15 percent higher, they added.
