The Passport Cell of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested four persons and recovered 447 passports, tickets, fake documents and stamps from their possession.
The FIA has launched a massive hunt against the travel agents under its campaign against human trafficking in the twin cities.
This was revealed by Rawalpindi FIA Passport Cell Deputy Director Akbar Hoti at a press conference here on Thursday.
"Owner of Al-Rahim Travels, Blue Area, Chaudhry Abrar was arrested, and 400 passports, 60 air tickets and other documents were recovered from his possession, while his accomplice, Sheikh Muhammad Asghar, managed to escape from the scene."
Giving details about the operation, Hoti said in another raid at Blue Plaza, Islamabad, 10 passports were recovered from the possession of a person Mian Khan, who had rented a room there. He had no office and was operating a business of human trafficking from his room, he added.
Hoti said the raids were conducted on two travel agents at Mustafa Plaza here and human traffickers were booked in those raids.
"Ashfaq of Coura Traders was booked following recovery of 27 passports. Five passports were recovered from the possession of Afzal Khan, who was receiving Rs 0.7 million to one million for sending people abroad.
Hoti said that some travel agents had bent upon looting the innocent people in the name of employment or sending them abroad. "We have decided to take strict action against these travel agents and bring them to task", he added.
"During the last month, 114 cases have been registered against these travel agents, out of which 50 have been completed and people, who were guilty, would be brought under the purview of the law," he said.
