The Democratic Alliance on Saturday filed an application to requisition the Senate session to discuss the prevailing situation in Balochistan.
Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy (ARD) sources told Business Recorder that 25 senators, representing all the opposition parties, including Pakistan People's Party Parliamentarians, Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) and the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal signed the requisition.
However, senators from Balochistan were the real force behind the initiative, who want a full-fledged debate on the reports of military operation in the province.
The filing of the requisition was delayed following difference of opinion on its timing.
Some ARD senators were of the view that because of the by-election campaign, they would have hardly any time to attend the proceedings.
Both the major alliance - ARD and MMA -, however, agreed that the requisition be filed on Saturday, sources said.
