Prime Minister, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Saturday said that any decision on sending troops to Iraq will be reached in consultation with Islamic countries and after taking the nation into confidence.
"Any decision on sending troops to Iraq will be made in consultation with Islamic countries," he said talking to newsmen at a luncheon hosted by Lieutenant General Majeed Malik (Retd), Senior Vice President, Pakistan Muslim League.
"Peoples' aspirations will also be cared for ensuring that any such decision does not go against the will of the people," the Prime Minister added.
Shujaat Hussain said President General Pervez Musharraf has also categorically stated that the government would not take any step in this respect that is against the aspirations of our people.
To a question, the Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction over the Pakistan-India talks on Siachen and hoped, "the talks will help resolve the issue amicably. We should think of moving forward, leaving behind the past."
In response to a question about terrorism, Ch. Shujaat said, the government was committed to root out terrorism from its soil and will continue to fight this menace in any circumstances.
To a query regarding the problems of local areas, the Prime Minister said, funds will be released to all areas according to their requirements. "The decisions regarding development work will now be taken by the people and party workers themselves," he observed.
When asked about the reorganisation of PML, the Prime Minister said, the PML was present at every nook and corner of the country and efforts are being made to make the party more active and dynamic.
