The Alliance for Restoration of Democracy will shortly dispatch a delegation to interact with the nationalist leaders, seeking political solution to the crisis in Balochistan.
The top leadership of the alliance, which met here on Saturday under the chairmanship of Makhdoom Amin Fahim, took stock of the national affairs, with particular reference to law and order situation.
The meeting supported PML (N) demand that a commission should be formed to review the Kargil battle; its background and the reasons for its failure, and to find out how much information was shared with the then premier vis-à-vis the Kargil battle.
The ARD leaders gathered at the PPP Central Secretariat amid reports of military operation in Balochistan and that Baloch leaders are pondering over giving a civil disobedience call in the province.
The alliance demanded of the military to go back to barracks, paving way for the return of true federal parliamentary system. "The army must shun politics and save the country from 1971-like debacle," one of the resolutions warned.
Briefing newsmen, ARD Secretary General Zafar Iqbal Jhagra said that the meeting aired its concern over 'the bad law and order situation and attacks on soldiers and scouts from Wana to Khuzdar.
He said ARD chairman Amin Fahim would lead a delegation shortly to hold talks with the political leadership of the province to defuse the alarming state of affairs in Khuzdar, Turbat, Gwadar and elsewhere in Balochistan.
The alliance held the rulers responsible for the murder of Mufti Shamzai, Pir Binyamin Rizvi, Munawar Suharwardi and the bid on the life of President Musharraf and Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz.
The meeting passed as many as six resolutions, cautioning the government to adopt a dialogue path to resolve crisis in Balochistan and categorically say not to troops' deployment in Iraq.
Through resolutions, ARD demanded immediate release of Asif Ali Zardari, Javed Hashmi and other political activists. The alliance condemned the government bill to amend the Defamation Ordinance and the arrest of 70 ARD workers in Sialkot.
"What is happening in Balochistan can lead to very serious repercussions. The government's actions in this regard are weakening the Federation," Zafar Iqbal said.
The security situation, he said, was precarious and there was no mechanism to improve the situation.
Accusing the government of misusing the official resources and machinery in the campaign of Shaukat Aziz in Attock and Tharparkar, he said that the Chief Election Commissioner Irshad Hassan Khan be sent home.
ARD warned the government against sending forces to Iraq; saying that the country has been turned into a US colony and the foreign policy was constantly pushing Pakistan towards isolation in the international arena.
"At a time when it has become crystal clear that the US-led attack on Iraq was without any justification and several countries have withdrawn their troops from there, the government must decline in categorical terms that it would not dispatch its troops to the war-torn country," Zafar Iqbal said.
The meeting deplored the campaign to harass the family members of detained ARD President Javed Hashmi.
Those who attended the meeting included Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Tehmina Daultana, Nawab Mansoor Ahmed Khan and Saranjam Khan.
