Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee General Muhammad Aziz Khan, who is at present on a visit to Turkmenistan, called on President Saparmurat Niyazov Ataevich.
During the meeting, matters of bilateral co-operation including defence ties were discussed.
President Niyazov appreciated the level of warm and friendly relations between Pakistan and Turkmenistan and specially his close rapport with President Pervez Musharraf whom he regards as a brother.
He welcomed the defence co-operation between Pakistan and Turkmenistan especially in the field of training of personal and said the two countries enjoy close bilateral relations.
In response, General Aziz Khan conveyed best wishes and warm regards of President Musharraf. He assured President Niyazov of Pakistan's commitment to further expand this co-operation and closer liaison between the armed forces and military institutes of the two countries. Issues relating to security within the region also came under discussion.
