The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) on Wednesday granted licence to Mari Gas Company Limited for sale of natural gas from Mari gas field to five categories of consumers/companies.
These included Wapda Thermal Power Station, Fauji Fertiliser Company Ltd plant at Mirpur Mathelo, Fauji Fertiliser Company plant at Goth Machi, Engro Chemical Fertiliser plant at Dharki, and other retail consumers which enter into a gas sale agreement with the licensee with the prior approval of the Authority.
The Authority handed over licence to Mari Gas Company Limited and it shall be effective from March 29, 2002, and remain valid for a period of 30 years or till such time as the Mari gas production lease is valid, whichever is earlier.
Mari Gas Company Limited had applied for grant of licence (non-exclusive) to carry out sale of natural gas (a regulatory activity).
The application was accepted and notices were issued to all interested/affected persons/parties through press, wherein salient features of the application were also provided.
The stakeholders including general public were invited to participate in the proceedings for grant of the said licence and in response, Ogra received interventions from Sui Southern Gas Company Limited and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited on the basis of which Ogra held public hearing on February 26 this year with a view to provide the interveners and general public an opportunity to participate and present their comments before the authority.
The comments received from the interveners and general public helped the Authority to grant licence to Mari Gas Company with appropriate terms and conditions.
