Russian physical sugar demand subdued

Russian demand for physical sugar is quiet in the run-up to the country's beet harvest, the International Sugar Organisation (ISO) said on Wednesday.
"Russia, the world's largest sugar importer, keeps disappointing the market bulls," the London-based ISO said in its July market report.
"Despite the combination of a lower import duty and rising domestic prices, Russian import demand remains subdued."
Import prospects seemed to be further dented by the approaching domestic beet campaign, the ISO said, referring to the start of the Russian harvest around September.
