A Pakistani Basmati road show will be held in Colombo during Ramazan to introduce its varieties in Sri Lanka. This was stated by the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka Bashir Wali during a visit to the office of Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (Reap) and held meeting with its Vice Chairman, Muhammad Anwar Mianoor here on Wednesday.
He was responding to the suggestion of Reap members for providing facilities to Pakistani rice exporters in Sri Lankan market.
He said that a single country exhibition of Pakistani products would also be organised in Sri Lanka with the collaboration of Export Promotion Bureau (EPB).
He assured Reap members that difficulties would be removed for the import of Pakistani rice in Sri Lanka.
Wali informed that he has successfully negotiated shifting of 25 Pakistani prisoner from Sri Lanka to Pakistani jail on similar agreement existing between UK and his government. Earlier, Mianoor in his welcome address urged the High Commissioner to remove duty on Basmati rice import and abolish requirement of permit for rice import.
