Heavy downpour again lashes Lahore

Two-hour continuous heavy rain has flooded a number of roads of provincial metropolis on Tuesday, making the lives of commuters miserable.
The rain began at about 9.55 am that continued till 12.05 pm and in the process the roads were inundated with knee-deep water mainly caused by insufficient drainage system.
Laxami Chowk, Hall Road, Sanda Road, Anarkali, Mozang, etc were inundated, disturbing the routine traffic. Although the civic authorities make tall claims of overcoming the drainage problem, but at every monsoon heavy rain expose its hollow claims.
According to the meteorological department official, the city received 43 millimetre of rain.
The rain brought down the temperature by 5.2 Celsius degrees, maximum temperature recorded was 30 Celsius degrees while minimum temperature was 25.2 Celsius degrees. The rain had made the weather pleasant and cool.
The city remained under the shadow of dark clouds in the evening and the met office predicted that more rain was expected during next 24 hours.
Other parts of Punjab, including Jhelum (132-mm), Sialkot (84-mm) and Mandi Bahauddin (18-mm) also received rain.
