The Sindh Assembly session scheduled to begin at 9:30 am began at about 12 noon and passed Sindh Information Technology Board (Amendment) Bill before Speaker Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah adjourned it to meet again on Friday at 9:30 am.
The law minister also introduced Private Universities & Educational Institutes Laws (Amendment) Bill 2004.
The law minister said that the SITB Bill aimed at activating the existing board to promote mutual consultation process.
The bill envisages that the governor will be the chairman and IT minister will be its vice chairman. There shall be 11 members of board, including seven from the private sector.
MMA member Hameedullah opposed the bill. He said it was being presented in haste.
He suggested that the member of this House should be appointed as the chairman of the board. He also suggested referring the bill to the House standing committee. However, the bill was tabled and approved with majority votes.
All other matters, including reports of the standing committees and adjournment motions were deferred.
These will be considered in the next session. Opposition members except six MMA members did not attend Wednesday's proceedings.
