President General Pervez Musharraf on Wednesday said that Pakistan attaches great importance to enhance political and economic ties with New Zealand.
Talking to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of New Zealand Phil Goff, who called on him, the President called for increasing trade and economic co-operation between the two countries.
Besides, bilateral relations, they discussed regional and international issues and the President emphasised the importance that Pakistan attaches to enhancing political and economic ties with New Zealand. He particularly emphasised the need for increasing trade and economic co-operation.
The President apprised the New Zealand foreign minister of Pakistan's perspective on Afghanistan, Iraq and issues of peace and security in South Asia.
The President emphasised the importance of making the composite dialogue process with India purposeful. He said, it was important for Pakistan and India to move towards the resolution of the Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
The New Zealand Foreign Minister thanked the President for his insight on regional and international issues and said his country desired to enhance its political and economic relations with Pakistan.
The New Zealand Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade arrived on a three-day visit to Pakistan.
