Pakistani devotees visiting India to participate in the 792nd Urs of Muslim Sufi saint Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti Ajmeri, had to wait for 20 to 24 hours at Attari railway station to board on the special train for Urs venue Ajmer city, via New Delhi.
Talking to relatives here on telephone, a Pakistani family disclosed that their special train which was due to depart for Delhi-Ajmer at 8.00 pm left Attari station at 5.00 pm next day, a 19-hour delay, while most of the passengers had been waiting for hours earlier for official formalities.
They asserted that while the railway authorities were co-operative and friendly, there were no proper arrangements for food and other transit facilities for the stranded passengers, who had also to contend with the hot and humid weather.
Because of delay, the Pakistani visitors were denied a scheduled 12-hour visit of Delhi, and were forced to proceed directly to Ajmer after an hour's stop at Delhi railway station.
