The Pakistan Cloth Merchants Association (PCMA) has expressed confidence that Pakistan will make further progress and prosper under Shaukat Aziz's stewardship as Prime Minister.
"It is the first time in the history of Pakistan that the country got rid of International Monetary Fund (IMF) and huge foreign loans worth billions of dollars due to sound economic policies pursued by him," said PCMA Chairman Abid Chinoy in a statement.
He was congratulating Shaukat Aziz on his victory from both the constituencies with overwhelming majority.
Abid Chinoy said the business community of Pakistan was well aware of the sound and result-oriented economic policies of Shaukat Aziz, which were implemented by him under the guidance and farsighted leadership of President Pervez Musharraf, which made Pakistan economically strong and on the path of progress and economic development.
The PCMA Chairman said the entire business community would continue to extend its whole-hearted support to the new Prime Minister, and hoped that Shaukat Aziz would continue to take business community into confidence before framing any monetary and fiscal policy decisions.
Abid Chinoy further hoped that Shaukat Aziz as Prime Minister would focus on long-term policies to meet the challenges like sustaining and accelerating the momentum of the growth, creating employment opportunities and reducing poverty.
He assured the new Prime Minister of continued support and co-operation of the business community.
