Pakistan, China and 20 Asian countries on Friday pledged to enhance their cultural collaboration through frequent exchanges of stage, television and film artists.
Members of the cultural delegations from these countries, while attending a week long Asian Art Festival that began here, said they were looking forward to increase their interaction for projecting common cultural heritage.
This, they hoped will also help to develop harmony and understanding at bilateral and regional levels.
Leader of Pakistan delegation Syed Javed Raza said his country was keen to develop close co-operation with the regional countries in the fields of art and culture. Pakistan regularly took part in the Asian art festival and other activities in China under bilateral exchange programme, he said.
Meanwhile, Pakistani folk vocalist Arif Lohar participating in the opening ceremony at the festival presented an impressive performance. The audience was moved by the country's traditional folk concert and gave thundering applause.
Talking to APP, a Chinese cultural official Jiang Xian said Pakistani music and folk dances were highly inspiring and reflect its rich traditional heritage.
"The performance of Arif Lohar was outstanding. He has won the show," Jiang remarked. It reflected the rich talents of Pakistan artists. He emphasised that such visits should be held more frequently in order to bring the people closer to each other.
The troupe that includes Sam Zahoor and Mrs. Gulzar Wagma also gave a thrilling performance here at Pakistan Embassy College. The artists presented folk dances and traditional songs.
Ambassador Riaz Mohammad Khan praised their performance and hoped that cultural exchanges will help strengthen the friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries and their people.
