The next meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentarians Conference will be held in Pakistan in 2005. This was decided in the 11th General Assembly - Asia Pacific Parliamentarians Conference on Environment and Development (APPCED) held in Korolevu, Fiji from August 17 to 20, 2004, said a message received from Fiji here on Saturday.
The Conference elected Senators Muhammad Amjad Abbas and Zafar Iqbal Chaudhry as Vice President and Secretary General respectively.
The 11th General Assembly deliberated on the theme "Large Ocean Vulnerable Small Island; Addressing Barriers to Sustainable Development".
Pakistan delegation led by the Chairman Senate, Muhammadmian Soomro actively participated in the deliberations of the Conference.
The delegation presented a number of recommendations and suggestions, which were appreciated by the delegates from other countries. The Pakistan delegation consisted of Senators, Muhammad Abbas Komailli, Muhammad Amjad Abbas, Zafar Iqbal Chaudhry, Bibi Yasmeen Shah, Tahir Iqbal, Mohammad Enver Baig and Shahiq A. Khan, Acting Secretary Senate.
