President Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sulejman Tihic will be arriving here Tuesday on a four-day official visit, to discuss bilateral relations besides holding talks on a wide range of regional as well as global issues.
Sulejman Tihic would be the first ever head of state from Bosnia and Herzegovina to visit Pakistan.
The President would be accompanied by the Bosnian Foreign Minister Mladen Ivanic and other senior officials including representatives of Foreign Investment Promotion Agency.
According to the Foreign Office statement here Sunday, the purpose of the visit was to review bilateral relations and exchange views on a wide range of regional as well as global issues.
Bosnia and Herzegovina has a unique structure with a three-member rotating Presidency. The members of the Presidency which rotates after every 8 months include Sulejman Tihic, Dragic Coric and Borislav Parapac.
Tihic was the current President of Bosnia and Herzegovina to be visiting Pakistan.
It may be noted that Pakistan greatly valued its relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina which were marked by strong ties of friendship and co-operation.
During the visit, President General Pervez Musharraf would exchange views with Sulejman Tihic on bilateral relations and other issues including the resumption of Pak-India dialogue, reconstruction in Afghanistan, situation in Iraq and revitalisation of OIC.
President Tihic would also meet with Prime Minister designate Shaukat Aziz, Chairman Senate Muhammedmian Soomro and Foreign Minister Khurshid M. Kasuri.
The President of Bosnia and Herzegovina would address a gathering of Pakistan investors and business community to identify bilateral trade relations and to generate flow of investment in both the countries.
During the visit, an Mamorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Bilateral Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan and Bosnia and Herzegovina would be signed.
The volume of trade between Pakistan and Bosnia and Herzegovina at present was around $0.5 million per annum which was very modest.
Pakistan's exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina were included cotton fabric, mineral manufactures, sports goods and manufactures of base metal while the imports included machines and parts, wooden products, vegetables and synthetic fabrics.
The visit of the President of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Pakistan would give the impetus, much needed to strengthen further co-operation between the two countries.
It would also help in increasing the scope of economic co-operation and in building a vibrant business partnership between the two countries.
