The Madadgar-15 centres in Karachi would be supplemented and strengthened further in a week with deployment of newly created Quick Reaction Force (QRF) to combat the crimes through swift action.
"The QRF, consisting of elite commandos of Sindh police, would be launched by coming Sunday, " Fayyaz Leghari, DIG Operations Karachi, told PPI.
The idea behind creating QRF and deploying it at Madadgar-15 centres was to respond more quickly to any call by the people in case of any incident, he said.
Leghari said that at least 10 QRF commandos would be stationed in a single shift at each of six Madadgar-15 centres in the city adding that initially there would be two shifts to operate and later they would be available round the clock.
He said that currently the arrangements are being made for addition of at least one room with washroom etc at each centre for the force. It has also been planned to provide food to the commandos during the duty hours at the centres.
Karachi DIG Operations said since the centres have proved a great help to the citizens; steps are being taken to equip them with modern technology. "Previously the centres had to contact the police station after receiving any call. Now, the commandos would be available at these centres to rush to the place of incident," he said.
We have also tried to save time through computerisation of centres. Previously, the men at 15 centre used to ask phone number, address etc of the caller but after computerisation all the required information appears on screen and the centre just has to rush the force for action, Leghari mentioned.
He added that the required funds for this project were already available with police.
