Consumer Protection Council of Helpline Trust & Pakistan Certification Bodies Association, in collaboration with Pakistan National Accreditation Council, are organising a series of focused workshops of all the stakeholders to promote Standards & Accreditation and to link consumers and manufacturers with City District Government.
In the absence of Consumer Protection Laws and the enforcement of existing food and drug laws, the workshops will highlight the need for socially responsible manufacturers to provide quality products to the consumers at a fair price.
The workshops will give consumers, manufacturers and City Government an effective tool for communication and complaint resolution with the relevant government agencies.
It will give businesses and consumers an opportunity to join together and work under a code of standards and ethics which is based on the belief that every transaction between a business and its customer establishes a relationship based on mutual trust and the extension of goodwill by each party to the other.
The workshop will highlight the need for manufacturers to be truthful in all of their representations regarding the products and services they offer and to comply with all federal, state or local regulations which apply to their business operations.
The first of these workshops is being held in a local hotel in Karachi on Thursday 26th August, 2004, from 09:00 am to 5:00 pm and will deal with counterfeit products, brand infringements and misleading advertisements.
Yousuf Jamal, Ombudsman Sindh, has been invited to chair the opening session of the workshop, whereas, Muhammad Mohsin, Registrar, Trade Mark Registry and Niamutllah Khan, City Nazim, Karachi would chair other sessions.
