Head of Jamia Hafsa Lal Masjid, Umme Salma has said that Jamia had never supported terrorist activities and its sole purpose was to impart Islamic education.
Madressa Hafsa was raided but lady police found no weapons inside the building. Despite that the police had placed a tight security in and around the institution, she said.
She further said the raid of police on Madressa was an act of state terrorism and the people of Pakistan should openly condemn that.
Some 2500 girls were getting religious education from about 45 teachers. The teachers were imparting education to enlighten the minds of young girls with the teachings of Islam, she added.
"Our collective responsibility is to preach Islam and not to support terrorism," she reiterated.
Umme Salma said the students had protested against the police high-handedness, adding that innocent girls studying in Madressa had nothing to do with the terrorism. Our institute had never provided any protection to terrorists, she went on to say.
England nationality holder Mrs Rukhsana, the mother of a student had denied that the students of the Jamia were involved in any action against the police and other law enforcement agencies.
Mrs Idrees, the mother of another student said that students had not beaten any police official. She feared the future of students would be ruined because of extra security measures.
She said that Pakistan was an Islamic country. "But students of a religious institution are harassed by unprecedented security measures of the law enforcing agencies.
