More powers are being delegated to the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) in a bid to enhance the country's exports, Chairman Export Promotion Bureau Tariq Ikram said on Monday.
"The second phase of revamping the Bureau has been started. The current procedure limits the effectiveness and speed of action and authority of the EPB. Various options, including transforming it into Export Development Authority of Pakistan, were under consideration," the chairman EPB told PTV. "Hopefully, within two months, the EPB will be made fully autonomous," he said, adding, "this will definitely improve its performance."
Additionally, new schemes will be launched to facilitate transportation of products to the markets of the USA and Europe.
"The image of Pakistan will also be managed to improve the country's exports," he said and added efforts were under way to introduce such export culture that would react immediately to any challenge if exports face in future.
