Pak-China Friendship Forum meets next week
Pakistan-China Friendship Forum, which includes senior former diplomats, will meet here next week.
The forum, headed by former foreign minister Agha Shahi and former Chinese vice-minister of Foreign Affairs Xu Dunxin will discuss ways and means to augment the bilateral contacts.
It was set up in March last year to act as an advisory body on bilateral affairs in a non-official capacity. The forum also includes some experts in various fields from the two countries. Former foreign minister Inamul Haq acts as its secretary general, while ex-ambassador to Pakistan Lu Shulin holds the same office from the Chinese side.
The first meeting of the forum was held in Islamabad in September last year. Sources told APP that the forum is supposed to suggest the two governments as how to further enhance bilateral co-operation in politics, economics, journalism as well as the academic and cultural fields.
It is hoped that the forum would prove an effective body bringing the people of the two countries further closer for promoting their mutual interests.
The Sino-Pakistani all-time friendship had developed continuously and become an example of friendly co-existence between the states with different social systems since the two countries forged diplomatic ties 52 years ago.
