Bids for $150 million project 'Waste to Energy' are likely to be opened in next couple of days as three firms have submitted their bids with the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) on August 16, fixed in this regard.
Official sources told PPI on Monday that out of nine companies, pre-qualified for the project, only three submitted their bid documents, but they declined to disclose name of these three firms, which belong to United States (US), United Kingdom (UK) and China.
These companies will make the presentation before City Nazim Naimatullah Khan and officials of CDGK. After that stage, selection of prospective firm would be finalised, they added.
It may be recalled here that earlier July 17 was fixed as last date for submission of bids in a pre-bid meeting held on May 18. However, it was later extended to August 16 when pre-qualified firms sought further extension due to their inability to submit bids on that date.
It may be pointed out that a total of nine firms pre-qualified for the project, including the Thermogenics Inc & Engineering Consultants (Pvt) Ltd, the Fitchner, the Brinds International Ltd, the Alvi Project Services/Osamani Co, and the Life Energy & Tech Int'l.
Besides the Shirran Consultations (Pvt) Ltd, the China National Machinery & Equipment Import & Export Corporation, the Horbin Power Engineering Co, the Shenzhen Energy Environment Engg Co Ltd, the Sadullah Khan & Brothers, and the Dalian Dazheng Environmental Engineering Pakistan.
