The three-day Fifth International Mathematics Conference organised by the Pakistan Mathematical Society (PMS) concluded here last Sunday night with speakers making suggestions for uplift and promotion of mathematics in Pakistan.
The Conference stressed that such conferences should be a regular feature and there should be regular seminars and workshops on mathematics in all the friendly countries.
World renowned mathematicians participated and delivered lectures in the conference that continued from August 20 to 22. Each day comprised three sessions presided over by national and foreign mathematicians.
Participants of the conference from abroad included Professor Dr S.T. Rizvi of USA, Professor Dr K.R. Shum and Professor Dr N. Ding of China, Professor Dr R.S. Tyagi, Professor Dr P.K. Jam, and Professor Dr B.K. Dass of India, Professor Dr S.N. Sidki of Brazil and Professor Dr A.H. Bokhari and Professor Dr M. Ziad of Saudi Arabia.
The research papers on various topics and branches of mathematics were read out with full appreciation, criticism, discussion followed by questions and answers session.
The eminent and renowned mathematician of Pakistan, Professor Dr B.A. Saleemi, dean of AIR University, Pakistan, presided over the concluding session of the conference. He also invited the guest speakers for their comments, impressions and remarks about the conference.
The speakers generally appreciated the standard of papers and the opportunity of mutual get-together. In particular, the Indian mathematicians highly valued the efforts of the Pakistan Mathematical Society in this regard
The speakers besides, other proposals and suggestions for the uplift and promotion of mathematics in Pakistan, stressed the need for holding similar conferences and workshops in all the friendly countries shout should be a regular feature.
Professor Dr B.A. Saleemi agreed with their suggestions, and paid rich tributes to the galaxy of mathematicians present in the conference both from Pakistan and from abroad.
He also appreciated various committees of the Pakistan Mathematical Society, that efficiently performed their duties within their limited resources in particular the organising committee.
Dr Saleemi highly appreciated the efforts, enthusiasm and far-sightedness of Professor Dr Qaiser Mushtaq, the convener of the conference at which a standing ovation was presented to him.
Professor Dr Qaiser Mushtaq thanked all the delegates for their participation and co-operation in making the conference a success.
