A US firm "Volmont" and its Pakistani counterpart "Valley" had introduced a modern irrigation equipment which helped in saving water, said Alexandre Vion and Bill Fidler at a seminar organised by these companies in collaboration with Mango Growers Association (MGA) in a local hotel here on Monday.
They said that the equipment was aimed at using minimum possible water for maximum crop yield. They claimed that with its use the water consumption got halved but the production got doubled.
Richard D Berkland enlightened the audience on the technical advantages and uses of the machine, costing $12,000-13,000.
He said that even fertilisers and pesticides could be administered through this equipment. A large number of MGA activists including its President, Zahid Hussain Gardezi attended the seminar.
