Sindh education Minister, Hameeda Khuro has said that in future recruitment in education department would be made purely on merit.
She was talking to newsmen after presiding over a meeting of educationists at Circuit House.
She said the actual downfall in education system had started following the nationalisation of the educational institutions.
Responding to a question, she said that she would not tolerate the illegal activities and unnecessary demands of Teachers Association, however the positive role would be appreciated.
She said that curriculum of the primary education was being re-examined and it would be made more compact and effective.
Replying to a questioner about the recent recruitment on post of lecturers through Public Service Commission (PSC) and her orders negating the recommendation of the Public Service Commission, she said she was unaware that any test had been conducted by the Sindh PSC to assess the merit of those candidates.
Replying to another question about making English as compulsory subject from 1st to 5th class she said that the English language was main source to improve the education and knowledge, however mother tongue language would also be encouraged at the primary level.
Referring to number of available vacancies in the education department, she said that a survey was being conducted to ascertain number of actual vacant.
However she did not agreed with an impression that in rural areas landlords occupied most of the ghost schools. She said that the services of Sindhi landlords for the promotion of education in their areas are worth mentioning.
