Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Tuesday ordered the release of nearly 250 Afghans imprisoned in Pakistan for consular offences.
He made this announcement during a meeting with the Afghan President Hamid Karzai here at Prime Minister House.
President Hamid Karzai and Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain discussed the issue of prisoners from the two countries held in Afghani and Pakistani jails for several years for minor or consular offences.
Reciprocating the gesture, the President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai reiterated his commitment to transfer Pakistani prisoners to the custody of Pakistani within the next few days.
