Police have seized computer compact disks (CDs) and important documents from the residence of Ghulam Mustafa which have exposed the future plotting of the gang of terrorists.
"These terrorists have recorded the movements of important dignitaries and routine work, details about different buildings and embassies, security arrangement, names of security staff and contact numbers of VIPs, and they had plotted to destroy Army Headquarters, US embassy, Presidency, Prime Minister House, house and Chief Minister," said the investigation officer.
"We are searching their accomplices, who are still at large, to take them to task. However, it is a fact that the country has been saved from a major disaster by unearthing this gang," he added.
Heavy Police contingent and intelligence personnel at midnight raided the residence of Ghulam Mustafa in village 196/EB (Vehari) some 100 km south-east of Multan, and arrested his father, Abdul Rashid (65), a retired Beldar of Irrigation Department. Police seized some documents and weapons from his house and took him to some undisclosed place for interrogation.
Mukhtar Iqbal Tikka, DPO, Vehari, said, "We have release Abdul Rashid and we had taken him into custody to collect some basic information about the foreigners who visited his home in recent past. However, he was not among the accused."
But his family denied this and said that he had not come back.
Ghulam Mustafa (34) is among the nine terrorists who had plotted to kill important personalities and destroy buildings to create a state of uncertainty and insecurity in the country .Ghulam Mustafa had joined Hizb-ul-Mujahideen in 1990 and took part in war against Russia.
Later, he joined the Taleban. He had friendly ties with Arab 'mujahideen' who stayed with him at his house. He belonged to a poor family because his father was only a fourth class employee (Beldar) but now they are wealthy and land holders, said a relative.
Ghulam Mustafa's brother-in-law, Zulfikar Ahmed, said, "Vehari Sadar Police detained me for six hours when I went to Police Station to see my father-in-law, Abdul Rashid, and they questioned me about the foreigners, particularly Arabs." But, he said, he had never saw any alien in their home.
He ruled out the possibility of close contact of Ghulam Mustafa with Osama bin Laden or Arab freedom fighters.
After the raid by Police in the village, panic spread and everyone was feeling insecure.
