Balochistan Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani has declared that a cantonment would not be established at Gwadar but at Ormara where Pakistan Naval Base already exists for the defence of the provincial coast and coastal belt.
At a television interview, points of which were available here on Tuesday Governor Ghani said cantonment at Sui (Pakistan hub of natural gas) for the safety and security of Pakistan's precious gas installations and its pipelines, potent source of natural fuel for industrial, commercial and domestic consumption across the country would of course be constructed with mutual consultation and consent.
Governor Ghani said Balochistan abounds in natural resources including oil, gas, metallic and non-metallic minerals.
These resources, he added, could be economically exploited and correctly utilised only in an environment of safety and availability of necessary infrastructures.
He said present govt is paying topmost attention to both these factors, paying rich dividends. As such oil and gas exploration is going on well in Bolan and Jhal Magsi areas. Wells would soon be drilled, off shore drilling along Balochistan coast is also going on well.
He added, similarly gold-copper project at Saindak with Chinese financial and technical co-operation has made remarkable headway for increased output and export.
Another rich gold-copper mining area believed to be containing about one billion tons of this precious mineral is in the process of exploration by Australian firm at Reko Diq not far away from Saindak in Chagai district.
Governor Ghani maintained that Balochistan govt has been regularly receiving royalty on oil, gas and minerals without any cut.
Local leaders in these areas including Nawab Akbar Bugti, Bugti tribal chieftain are regularly paid rent of their land in millions. Besides gold-copper cities at Saindak and Reko Diq, a marble city would soon be created at Gaddani, which is world's second largest ship breaking industry along Balochistan coast close to Karachi.
Governor said development progress with focus on mega projects initiated in Balochistan after October 1999 has no precedent. On completion and commission of these projects, destiny of the Balochistanis would be changed for the better and the best.
To a question Governor Ghani said there is no military operation in Balochistan. He however admitted, that there is action against all such elements that are indulged in acts of subversion, terrorism and extremism in Balochistan.
To another question Governor Ghani said doors of government for dialogue are always open. Senate penal on seeking political solution to Balochistan's problems is already in the offing.
