The National Assembly on Wednesday adopted a unanimous resolution to condemn continuous violence in Iraq and desecration of Hazrat Ali (RA) shrine.
Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) deputy secretary general, Liaquat Baloch moved the resolution that was passed through a voice vote.
The draft of the resolution prepared by the consensus of both treasury and opposition benches stressed upon the groups confronting in Najaf to avoid such acts that could hurt the feelings of the Muslim, world over.
It asked the US-led coalition forces and local militants to put an immediate halt to the armed clashes in and around the revered mausoleum.
The resolution also demanded to convene an emergency meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) for debate on the issue.
The resolution demanded of the Government of Pakistan to take concrete and effective steps to condemn the issue at all platforms.
The Senate during its Tuesday sitting had also condemned the fighting in Najaf through a similar resolution.
