Senate Chairman Mohammedmian Soomro presided over the meeting of the chairmen of Senate standing and functional committees at the Parliament House and discussed matters pertaining to the working of the committees.
Highlighting the role of the committees, he said that the Senate standing and functional committees play a vital role in the legislative process and serve as effective vehicle to monitor and evaluate the performance of the ministries and divisions.
He underlined the need of more co-ordination between the committees and the ministries in order to ensure effective and smooth functioning of the committees.
The chairmen of the committees briefed the Senate chairman about the working of their committees. They also put forward various proposals to further improve the performance of the committees.
Soomro assured them of his full co-operation in this regards. He said that research and library facilities are being improved to facilitate the working of the standing committees.
The meeting was attended by Ayaz Khan Mandokhel, Muhammad Saeed, Muhammad Ali Durrani, Muhammad Naseer Mengal, Muhammad Sarwar Khan, Tariq Azeem Khan, Kamil Ali Agha, Roshan Khursheed, M Anwar Bhindar, Razina Alam Khan, Muhammad Akram Wali, Anisa Zeb, Tahirkheli and Mushahid Hussain.
