The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) would spend more than Rs 80 million on different development schemes under Tameer-e-Pakistan Programme (TPP).
The Board had finalised the arrangements to initiate work on the development projects in its jurisdiction under TPP for which federal government had allocated Rs 40 million, Rs 20 million had been allocated for MNAs' quota while the RCB had also allocated Rs 20 million for the purpose, said Khwaja Iftikhar Ahmed Mir Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the RCB while talking to journalists.
He informed that the Cantonment Board had procured 300 streetlights from a well-reputed company at a cost of Rs 1.7 million.
Taking on the issue of ghost schools in the cantonment area, the CEO said that the statute of the RCB was very old, which not allow board to regulate the schools and take any legal action against such type of academic institutions.
"Under 2002 Ordinance we have been given a little power to take action against these institutions", Mir said and added that action was underway and no "Ghost" school would be allowed.
Responding to a question regarding the installation of the Bill-Boards, Mir said that the RCB had hired a consultant for conducting a survey regarding the permission of installation of the sign-boards in cantonment area and in two or three weeks complete report would be submitted to board.
