Piaf-Founders Alliance chairman, Mian Ashraf, welcoming the Director Trade Organisation's (DTO) decision of giving right of vote to as many as 385 members of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) in the forthcoming chamber elections, has termed it as first victory of the Alliance.
In a press release issued here on Thursday, he alleged that previous administration of the LCCI failed to submit applications of these members in September 2003 meeting, therefore, the matter was taken up in a meeting held in October 2003 and they were given memberships.
These members could not poll vote, as they had not completed one-year of their membership as per law, but the Piaf-Founder Alliance, which was ruling the LCCI at present, moved a case to the DTO that allowed them to cast votes in the forthcoming polls.
The press release claimed that the DTO had also rejected application against upgrading of 101 members to Chamber class also. Ashraf claimed that now Alliance was in a strong position and would win the next elections too with a historic margin, the release concluded.
