Emiratis donned their national colours Thursday to greet Olympic gold medallist Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashr Al-Maktoum, who returned home from Athens after a historic victory in the men's double trap shooting event.
In a country where locals are heavily outnumbered by expatriates, it was a rare all-Emirati affair as Sheikh Ahmed, a member of Dubai's ruling family, stepped down from his plane at sunset to an emotional and chaotic welcome in a private terminal of Dubai airport reserved for wealthy sheikhs of the Gulf emirate.
