A joint meeting of teachers, parents and students of Saddar Town has appreciated the policy of City Nazim Naimatullah Khan to grant admissions to first year classes in the colleges here purely on the basis of merit.
The meeting was held at the Government College for Women here on Thursday under the auspices of Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA).
They also lauded the statement of the City Nazim that there will be no quota for these admissions.
The participants of the meeting opposed the move to denationalise the educational institutions, and were of the view that this would deprive the students from poor and middle class of acquiring further education.
It was also demanded that the decision to denationalise St. Joseph's Government College for Women and St. Patrick's College be withdrawn.
