The German government is considering privatising Deutsche Flugsicherung, the state-owned air traffic control operator in 2005, weekly Der Spiegel said on Saturday, quoting an internal finance ministry paper.
"The aim is an extensive as possible privatisation of DFS in 2005," a report from the magazine released ahead of publication quoted the paper as saying.
It said a sale could raise several hundred million euros, which could go directly into the budget next year.
A spokesman for the finance ministry said he was unaware of the paper referred to in the article and said government policy was not to comment in advance on individual privatisation plans.
The government wants to sell its shareholdings in several companies including former state monopolists Deutsche Telekom AG and Deutsche Post AG but it has not said when and under what conditions it wants to cut the stakes.
Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH, a company 100 percent owned by the German government, is responsible for ensuring safe and orderly civilian and military flights across Germany.
