Commander Karachi, Rear Admiral Asad Qureshi on Monday inaugurated the operation of new Mammography Machine of radiology department and extension of children ward of Pakistan Navy Hospital PNS Shifa.
The new equipment would facilitate the early diagnosis of Breast cancer.
It is expected that this facility would reduce the mortality rate due to breast cancer by thirty percent.
Speaking on the occasion, Rear Admiral said that hospital was a vital hub of intense activities in health case delivery system and PNB Shifa had accomplished this role successfully won a degree of professional competence and ethical excellence.
Commandant PNS Shifa, Surgeon Commodore Sefvan Majid Janjua in his welcome address gave an overview of the performance and progress of the hospital.
He informed that the hospital started only as a small unit but during the last 51 years it had gained the repute of one of the finest medical institutions in the country.
He said that with the extension of children ward the capacity had increased considerably with all latest facilities required for the patient care. All infectious diseases and cases of Gastro-enteritis would be treated here.
He hoped that the extension would certainly add to the health care facilities being provided to the many patients at PNS Shifa.
Later, the chief guest inaugurated the newly inducted Mammography machine and the extension of children ward by unveiling the plaque.
The ceremony was attended by a large number of senior naval officers, officers and doctors and paramedical staff of the hospital.
