Inaugurating a two-day seminar on "Reinforced Soil Structures", Chairman National Highway Authority (NHA), General Farrukh Javed stressed the need for employing modern technology and construction techniques for constructing long-life highways in the country.
Chairman NHA said that during construction activity, matters relating to quality of construction material, temperature and climatic conditions must be kept in view.
The seminar was organised under the joint auspices of NHA and M/s Tensar International Limited, UK. Internationally reputed national and international road building experts addressed the seminar, which held at NHA' s Headquarters.
In his address, General Farrukh Javed spoke in detail on various factors causing damage to the highways and their solution.
He said, construction of long-life and durable roads was NHA's top most priority and in order to achieve this objective the need was to analyse the reasons in detail which caused damage to the roads, and then concrete measures be taken for solution of such problems.
