The armed forces along with the nation will celebrate the 36th Defence Day of Pakistan on September 6 with simplicity as well as traditional enthusiasm, and will reaffirm the pledge to offer supreme sacrifice for the defence and security of the country.
The day is observed in memory of the brave defence of the country's borders in the war waged by India in 1965 and to honour those who gave their lives in defending the sacred soil of the motherland.
According to an ISPR press release, Lahore Garrison has chalked out an elaborate programme to mark the day and pay homage to the martyrs of the 1965 war.
The day would begun with Quran Khawani and special prayers in the unit mosques, followed by the national flag hoisting at army institutions, installations, units and formation headquarters of the garrison, including the Corps Headquarters.
Flower wreaths would be laid at the Mazar of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, while special salutes would be offered at the graves, memorials and mausoleums of the country's 'Shuhada'.
