City Nazim Naimatullah Khan has said that Kashmir is the main hurdle in the way of better relations between Pakistan and India and its solution would benefit people of both the countries.
He expressed these views in a meeting with a delegation of Karachi Council on Foreign Relations, Economic Affairs and Law at his office here on Wednesday.
The delegation comprised the Council Chairman Justice Saeeduzzaman Siddiqi (Retd), Honorary Romanian Consul General Ahsan M. Zubairi, S.H. Hashmi and Saadullah Khan.
The delegation apprised the City Nazim about aims and objectives of the Council and said it wants to serve the community of Pakistan and Karachi and is keen for prevalence of peace and progress.
Naimatullah Khan informed that steps are being taken for launch of BOT-based development schemes and many local and foreign companies are taking interest for investment here.
He pointed out that in the past the industries and investors shifted from here because of bad law and order conditions.
He observed that in many cities of the world, the law and order is also not conducive and there had been killing of many journalists but the same was not publicised by Western media while a minor incident in Karachi is magnified by them.
Naimatullah Khan said that Karachi is being defamed under a well-hatched conspiracy to stop foreign investment here.
Under present conditions, he urged, the people should keep differences above self and work for the progress of the country and nation, and a bright future for the coming generation.
The delegation informed that efforts are being made to get the hurdles remove in the way of issuance of Indian visa for Karachiites so that people of 60 years and above age as well as those wanting medical treatment in India could get visa in 72 hours.
The Council office-bearers presented a memento of their organisation to City Nazim who presented the Shield of City Government and Sindh's traditional Ajrak and cap to the delegation members.
