PIA is in the process of revamping the whole reservation and booking system, and in this regard the Central Reservation Control (CRC) will be fully automated in the near future.
Chairman PIAC Ahmed Saeed said this at the marketing conference held at PIA office Lahore.
Addressing the district managers and cargo sales managers from all over Pakistan, the chairman emphasised on the fact that maximum facility to be provided to PIA passengers and solve the problems they face, while getting their seats booked and confirmed.
This system will be on first-come-first-serve basis and after initial problems are settled PIA will also computerise the schedule of cockpit and cabin crew within two months.
Appreciating the efforts of all the district and cargo managers, Saeed said that despite financial constraints and adverse conditions the airline is maintaining and chasing its targets and is confident about its future growth and progress in all service and operational areas.
He said that there are difficult times ahead due to tremendous increase in fuel prices in the international market, which has never increased to this extent in the past three years.
PIA has earned an after tax profit of Rs 1.4 billion in the first six months of the current fiscal year despite absorbing that additional fuel cost. He directed the district managers to visit their respective areas frequently including the interior Sindh, Azad Kashmir and other domestic offline stations and evaluates all activities both in passengers and cargo sales and revenue.
The performance of DSAs, PSAs and GSAs has to be monitored according to the productivity level, he emphasised.
Kamran Hasan Director Marketing apprised the chairman about the overall performance of PIA. He informed that in the 2nd quarter of 2004, the airline mounted 22 percent higher capacity than 2003 of the same period and achieved passenger growth of 17 percent over the same period last year.
The airline passenger traffic experienced an increase by 13.6 percent against the capacity increase of 14.7 percent last year from January-June. He assured the chairman all out efforts by his team, to meet the targets and challenges being faced by the airline in the aviation industry.
The chairman and director marketing were given detailed briefing by district managers and cargo managers of Karachi/Sindh district, Quetta/ Balochistan district, Multan, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi/ Islamabad, Peshawar/NWFP and Islamabad district.
The conference was attended by General Manager Passenger Sales Salman Javed, General Manager Cargo Sales Tariq Bukhari, Special Assistant to Chairman Colonel Mahmood and District Manager Lahore Talat Mahmood.
