Director General for Strategic Vision and Quality Assurance of the Higher Education Commission Jalil Ahmad on Thursday called on Punjab University vice-chancellor Arshad Mahmood and discussed matters pertaining to long-term development projects and implementation status of these projects.
The vice-chancellor briefed him about the practical and goal-oriented research being conducted in the university.
He said the university has developed hybrid seeds of various crops and vegetables and cultivated them on its farms. He further said that fish and honeybee farms and potato seed centre have also been set up on the campus. The university is also conducting research on Sheesham dieback and revival of disease-affected trees and plants, he added.
He said that work on the new building of the School of Biological Sciences is in progress, which would be completed within a month.
The Curriculum Advisory Board of the university has been helping the departments, institutes and centres in updating curricula according to the market needs, adding that every possible step is being taken to improve the quality and standard of education.
Meanwhile, the Director General visited the new buildings of the School of Biological Sciences.
