An accountability court on Thursday adjourned to September 07, the proceedings in a reference against, former senator and father in law of former prime minister Ms Benazir Bhutto, Hakim Ali Zardari and his wife for arguments on their applications for acquittal from the reference.
Earlier, their counsel submitted partial arguments before the court and contended that the reference in question had been filed only to victimise them politically. He said the charges framed against them were fake and against the facts. He was still on his legs when the court rose for the day.
The accused have been facing the charges of obtaining a plot for petrol pump in relaxation of rules and regulations. They have also been facing the charges of obtaining the said plot on through away price and thus causing damage of millions of rupees to the national exchequer.
Meanwhile, another accountability court concluded the process of recording the statements of prosecution witnesses in a reference against former Tehsildar Muhammad Aslam and adjourned the proceedings for next week for final arguments.
The accused has been facing the charges of corruption and making illegal money in excess of his income. He has also been facing the charges of misusing his official position.
