Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has sent Deputy Chairman Planning Commission (DCPC) to Tharparkar to assess the needs and requirements of this backward district of Sindh.
This was disclosed by Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, while addressing a press conference at his Sindh Assembly Chamber here on Friday.
He said the Deputy Chairman was accompanied by Chief Secretary Sindh, Additional Chief Secretary Planning besides some five Provincial Secretaries and some Federal Secretaries.
He said their visit was in connection with the preparation of a comprehensive development package for District Tharparkar which was promised by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz who was returned from this constituency in the bye-election with a thumping majority.
He pointed out that Tharparkar needs roads, water, electricity, sprinkle irrigation system, tube wells and traditional wells and the package from Prime Minister would help meet all requirements of down trodden people of the area.
