Sales tax returns

Please refer to the letter on the above subject which appeared on 30.08.04 in your paper. Rizwan Ahmed Khan is quite right on his points.
In today's fast and computer world, the concerned Sales Tax staff takes more than one month to update their few thousand Sales Tax return challlans, which is submitted before the 15th of each month by the exporters.
One side of the department claims to process refund claims very fast and another side holds the exporter's file for more then one month, because the Sales Tax Return Challan is not updated by STAR.
Due to such delay in updating, the concerned auditor refuses to accept the original file for refund purpose.
I request the concerned authority to take such measure, where all challans must be updated within one week's time, and the concerned auditor should be in position to accept the original invoice along with full file by 21st of each month from the exporters.
I hope the authority would consider this matter as very important and save the exporters by a month in claiming their refunds.
